RHINOPLASTY

The rhinoplasty is the plastic surgery that is performed on the nose as a single procedure or other procedures associated with the facial structure in the perfiloplasty with which is sought to improve the facial harmony. The duration of the procedure is of approximately 2 hours, usually done under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation and assisted by anesthesiologist. The approach to the nasal internal structures is performed through incisions that are usually done in the interior of the nostrils or eventually take place in the skin at the bottom of the nose according to the areas in which is planned to work. The nasal structures on which the rhinoplasty works are: Skin, bones, cartilages and cornetes.

Being the nose a central structure in the face, any alteration by low that be, will be translated into important changes in the facial physiognomy as well as possible changes in breathing that can be produced. That is why the objective is to achieve harmonics results that are not evident to be product of a plastic surgery.

Requirements

Patients candidates to be submitted to any plastic surgery should be performed a group of laboratory tests and the preanesthesic appraisal, which guarantees us the good condition of the patient and that have not factors that oppose to the plastic surgery. Patients will be submitted pre and post operative photographic study that is mandatory for lawful purposes and valuation of results.

Postoperative evolution

After a rhinoplasty the patient leaves the surgery room with the nose covered by tape and an immobilizer (plaster), besides remaining with a tamponade in each of the nostrils. That is why the patient from the moment that recovers from anesthesia will have to breathe with the mouth opened. The tampons will be removed in a period that varies from one to five days depending on the technique being used. The plaster is removed in about a week and then the patient will remain with ribbons for a week.

The edema (swelling) and ecchymosis (bruising) will progressively increase from the second day reaching the area of the eyes and eyelids; the edema resolves completely in about 6 months when you can see the final results. The buising will disappear in about 10 days.

The respiration improves notably from the 7 to 10 days when the patient throws the remainders of blood that accumulate in the interior of the nose (are thrown in the shape of crusts or bloody plugs). Is common the migraine in tolerable degree in the first days as well as vomiting and dizziness. In the first week an alteration in the intestinal frequency can be presented due to the rest.
